Have you ever wanted to capture video during a Skype video call, Google chat video, Yahoo video or any other kind of video chat messaging system? Perhaps you have taken part in an online web seminar, and wish that you could have saved the online video for later playback?
If you have answered yes to either of these questions, then you need to check out a new software called Video Chat Recorder.
Video Chat Recorder is software that's designed to record, save and capture video from just about any video source.
For this review purposes, I have tested out the software using YouTube, which has been known to change it's video codecs so many times that finding a software package to reliably record video is difficult to obtain. So I wanted to see how the Video Chat Recorder, would perform in this situation.
Usage of the Video Chat Recorder software is extremely easy. Once you start the application, you are presented with a window that allows you to paste in the URL of the video site that you wish to capture. The video site can also be a streaming video service such as YouTube or Vimeo, so that is the reason why I decided to use YouTube for the test.
First I opened up a browser and copied the YouTube video URL from my browser window to the Video Chat Recorder URL box, pasted that in and that brought the video into my display. From there I was able to start the YouTube video, click start on the Video Chat Recorder main menu and the recording started immediately.
There are several different configuration options that are available, you can choose to enable or disable the microphone during video recording, you can choose the source for the audio format, and you can choose the compression level of the resulting file output.
Along with the video recording options, you can also select the preferred storage path of the video files that you record, and after videos are finish recording, there is one click access to the saved videos.
Another nice feature with the Video Chat Recorder software is that you can record multiple video's at once. If you have a group video chat ongoing, it is a no-brainer to start up the Video Chat Recorder and capture the entire conversation. Then you can save that entire group video conversation with all the individual video feeds as a single file, perfect for posting to other sites or doing something else with the video, such as post-production work. Finally, this video software is priced at a truly affordable rate, so it is easy to get started and will not break your bank.
I genuinely enjoyed using this software, it has all the features you need to capture video from all different types of sources I threw at it. It captures video quickly, and you don't even need to wait for the compression to run, the video is ready to use immediately. This software is also perfect for creating e-training materials.
