Mac Blu-ray Player Review
If you did not know it already, the Macbook Pro and other Macs DO NOT natively support the playback of Blu-ray DVDs. Some say this was a decision by Steve Jobs to leave out the Blu-ray capabilities since he was not a fan of the technology. This means that if you have a Blu-ray disc that you want to watch, well, you are out of luck unless you find another means to play the disc on your Mac.
Changes on the new version:
Fortunately, there is a solution in the form of Mac Blu-ray player by MacGo. The application runs similar to other DVD players on the market and adds additional Blu-ray support that is missing on Mac systems.
Does this Blu-ray player for Mac actually work well? Let's find out.
When first starting the Mac Blu-ray player, you're presented options to load video. You can choose to open a video file from a disc, you can insert a regular DVD, or a Blu-ray disc.
The playback of Blu-ray discs requires some additional setup steps. In order to play Blu-ray movies, you need one of three things to be in place. You need an external Blu-ray disc drive which connects to your Mac via a USB 2.0 or higher cable, and ISO file containing the contents of a Blu-ray disc or you need to the contents of a Blu-ray disc to a local folder on your Mac.
If you choose to play a Blu-ray disc using an external Blu-ray disc drive, it is in for that you make sure your USB 2.0 cable is of the highest quality, preferably gold tipped case, to reduce the chance of any cable noise. USB 2.0 cables can be picked up online at most electronics stores, or you can visit your neighborhood department store and you can probably find one there quite easily.
One issue that is universal to Blu-ray disc playback is that not all Blu-ray discs are created equal. Some Blu-ray discs are encrypted by the Blu-ray disc manufacturer for playback on specific brands of Blu-ray players. The Mac Blu-ray player also needs a connection to the Internet, in case it encounters a Blu-ray disc which needs to be first be and unencrypted. The encryption process this perform automatically when the disc is played back, and the user doesn't have to do anything to make it work.

Great for watching Blu-ray movies on your Mac !
If you have external Blu-ray DVD disc drive, you will appreciate the Mac Blu-ray player very much. It bridges the gap between an external Blu-ray DVD disc drive and the Mac and allows you to open up a world full of super high definition video and audio. If you don't already have an external Blu-ray external disc drive, you can pick one up on eBay cheap. I highly recommend this software to anyone who wants to start watching Blu-ray movies on their Mac.
